Apple Celebrates Massive Developer Surge for New Foldable Hardware

Just two weeks after the official launch of the iPhone Duo, Apple is reporting a massive wave of software support for its latest device. Company executives announced today that the App Store already hosts more than 100,000 applications specifically designed to handle the unique requirements of the foldable screen. This rapid adoption suggests that developers were well prepared for the hardware shift long before the phones hit store shelves.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations, expressed her gratitude toward the creative community for embracing the new form factor so quickly. In a recent statement, she noted that thousands of additional optimized apps are joining the ecosystem every single day. According to Prescott, the momentum is continuing to build, and she expects the pace of these updates to accelerate as more creators experiment with what a folding display can actually do.

However, reaching a high number of compatible apps does not always equate to a perfect user experience. Despite the optimistic numbers from Apple, early adopters have reported various glitches across several popular platforms. Some users found that certain interfaces felt cluttered or unpolished upon launch, proving that simply labeling an app as made for the device does not guarantee seamless performance.

These growing pains highlight just how challenging it is to design for such unconventional dimensions. Even industry leaders have admitted to struggling with the transition; Instagram head Adam Mosseri recently described the Duo as a tricky form factor to master. While Apple celebrates its milestone of six figures in supported apps, both developers and users seem to be in a period of trial and error as they refine how software should behave on a bendable screen.
